Friendship Corporation was founded in 1994 out of a relationship built with the founders and the city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan in the aftermath of that country’s recent independence. The Kazakhstan affiliate was founded shortly afterwards and several projects we initiated in partnership with local governments. Friendship Corporation’s work continued in that country and began to expand to other areas as well. The current president, James Ramsay, served as the director of the Kazakhstan affiliate for several years, including the directing of the Friendship School in Karaganda. In 2006 he was appointed to lead the entire organization as president from the USA. Friendship School is still educating local children in Kazakhstan, now fully led by local education professionals. Since that time, Friendship Corporation has sent volunteers to assist needs in other parts of the world.
